"Building Home, Reclaiming Heritage: Diasporans Break Ground in Ghana

The Sankofa Vision Alliance (SVA) has officially broken ground on Obokese Sankofa Villas, a 15-acre residential village in Asebu, Ghana, designed to welcome members of the African Diaspora. Featuring 23 secure home sites and led by a local Ghanaian construction team, this development symbolizes a powerful step toward heritage reconnection and community empowerment.

Nana Bentum Enstoolment

In a significant cultural event, Pastor Michael Laws from Detroit, USA, was enstooled as Safohen (warrior chief) of the Nkum Asafo Company in Moree, Ghana, receiving the stool name Nana Kwesi Bentum I. The ceremony united the town's three Asafo Companies, symbolizing collective approval, and featured traditional rites and a procession through Moree's streets. Nana Bentum expressed deep gratitude for the honor and committed to embracing local traditions and aiding in the community's development. This enstoolment aligns with Ghana's broader initiative to welcome members of the African diaspora back to their ancestral homeland, fostering reconnection and cultural integration.

Nana Kwesi Bentum I: Bridge Between Worlds

In a historic moment of cultural reconnection, Pastor Michael Laws of Southfield, Michigan—co-founder of the Sankofa Vision Collective—was enstooled as Nana Kwesi Bentum I, Safohen of the Nkum Asafo Company in Moree, Ghana, in September 2021. This honor recognized his lifelong commitment to bridging the African Diaspora with its ancestral roots. Pastor Laws was revered for his spiritual leadership, Hebraic teachings, and deep dedication to cultural restoration across continents.

Sankofa Vision Collective Advances Community Project in Ghana

Asebu, Ghana — Sankofa Vision Collective is launching the next phase of Operation Sovereignty, a sustainable housing initiative for the African Diaspora. With home construction underway, the group is now fundraising for a protective perimeter wall and security post. Guided by the principle of Ubuntu, the project reflects unity, shared responsibility, and a commitment to building lasting community.
